Get More for Less with Social Marketing

6/23/2010 at 10:16 am by

social media marketingWhat if you could reach more than 400 million potential clients in one marketing move by setting up a free online account? Maybe you can. With more than 400 million users on Facebook, social media is proving to be one of the most cost-effective strategies for lead generation. In fact, an eMarketer report shows that seven out of 10 small businesses say they found a new customer through Facebook at the beginning of 2010.

Seven out of 10 is a pretty good rate – but it gets better. According to the report, social media sites are so cost-effective that 63 percent of business owners say they generated leads for less than their average allocated budget using these tools.

This data points to the fact that small business owners should consider spending more of their marketing budgets on their social media presence this year. You can take your company’s Facebook page a step further by using it as a platform to offer consumers promotional products or discounted, trial services. Plus, social media can be a great way to start word-of-mouth campaigns if you can get your “friends” to suggest new friends or retweet your posts.

With this in mind, social network connections may be your best brand evangelists this year, not to mention your new customers.
