Sage ERP brings business intelligence to SMBs

2/25/2013 at 12:21 pm by

For a long time, the benefits of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and business intelligence (BI) applications were out of reach for many companies. Recent innovations, such as Sage 300 ERP, have brought these capabilities to a wider range of organizations.

"Modern ERP software solutions have evolved to also include sales, marketing, customer service and business analytics – through business intelligence and real-time key performance indicator dashboards," said Vikram Suri, managing director of Sage Middle East and India. "Sage 300 ERP solutions deliver the best of both worlds."

According to Suri, the technology is now available to companies throughout the Middle East and India. Through its scalability and cost-efficiency, Sage 300 ERP allows small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to take advantage of tools that were previously reserved for larger enterprises.

In a recent blog post for IT News Africa, Logikal Consulting CEO Gerald Naidoo discussed the different ways BI applications can benefit SMBs.

Business intelligence can help a company manage any aspect of its everyday processes, from sales to inventory to human resources. Through greater visibility and effective reporting – BI tools can produce ad hoc reports on any data set in real time – executives and IT leaders can leverage the technology to make important business decisions. This has the potential to help companies improve sales numbers, enhance worker productivity and receive a faster return on investment after implementing new technologies.

Another advantage of business intelligence is its effectiveness when fighting fraud, according to a recent Digitalolympus.com study.

"With business intelligence strategies in place, businesses are able to clearly identify partners, authorities, institutions and methods – removing the possibility of being defrauded by local opportunists," said one collaborator on the report.

Because BI tools enable organizations to identify incidents of fraud quickly, they are able to mitigate the risk of breaches substantially.
